| This picture of Harley Luckham as Thomas Harley was known to
family and friends in his hometown of Glencoe, Ontario was probably taken
around 1904 though there is no date on the image. |
 |
| This family portrait was probably taken around the same
time. With Harley is his sister Lorna, mother Adelaide (Bea) Luckham, and
father John Leonard Luckham. Within about a year of this portrait John
Leonard was dead and Bea was left to raise the two children. She did so
aided by her two sisters Bertha Augusta "Gussie" Martyn who
never married, and Gertrude "Gertie" Jane Martyn Anderson whose
husband the local minister had left her and run off with the parish
organist. Surrounded by women in his early years Harley would head for the
States at the first reasonable opportunity! |
 |
| The Luckham home in Glencoe was still there and recognizable
in 1999. This picture is undated but it was probably taken around 1905. |
 |
| Harley went to school in this building. It too was still
standing in 1999. The photo is from an old post card Harley sent to son
Larry in 1966. The message on the back was: "This is the High School
from which I neglected to graduate. It looks the same today as when I
attended but is not used as a school as they have a new modern High
here." He was making a rare visit home at the time. |
