The Lock Leven Lakes was a favorite weekend backpacking destination in part because they were an easy weekend trip. But this trip was the first time we had tried it in the Spring with deep snow still on the ground. At first we couldn't find the lakes. Finally it dawned on us that the flat snowfield with no trees was the lake! For some reason I had been thinking water or ice, but not the snow that covered the ice.
